Dental check ups, teeth cleaning, root canals, tooth extractions and teeth fillings are some of the dental care and treatments that one needs to go through at one point in our life. It could be monthly, quarterly or even annually depending on the kind of care and treatment needed. The dental care and treatment mentioned are very expensive now days but one cannot disregard the fact that we need this to take good care of out dental requirements and problems. A solution to this dilemma is to have a dental insurance that will cover the cost of your dental needs but it has to be reasonably priced and at the same time it has the benefits that you really need. Finding the perfect dental insurance for your needs and requirements is not easy thing to do. Decision will have to be based on careful evaluation of your needs and wide-range of research dental insurance plan.

The first step is to study and find out what might be your dental requirements.

Are you the type of person who have big dental problems and will probably need to consult a dentist often than normal, or are you the kind who just needs check ups and maintenance from time to time. If you are on the first group then what you need is a comprehensive dental plan since, this kind of plan covers the entire cost of major dental treatments. Although, you have to bear in mind that a comprehensive dental plan would also command a higher premium rate. But on the other hand, if you do not really need more than the normal dental care you could opt for just a maintenance dental plan. It has much lower premium rates than the comprehensive dental plan. Always compare one dental insurance company from another in order to find the cheapest rate with the right dental care policy without having to sacrifice the services and benefits you would get in return.

Indemnity dental insurance plan is a fee for service plan and you are allowed to choose your own dentist. It has co-payment options and an annual limit on the coverage of dental spending and dental procedures Self-insurance plan has similarities to indemnity plan but the distinct difference is. people are so quick to complain, anyone heard about savings accounts? how about oral hygiene which can prevent all the cavities. It’s not just about money, it’s about education and the responsibility. I would hate to see another kid crying with cavity because his/her parents are ignorant. I took care of my children and their health and no i’m not even close to being rich!!!

I just spent $54,000 on my teeth for a full mouth smile makeover, and that was the cheapest uninsured quote I could find in Oregon!
There’s no economic depression in dentistry, they are raping the uninsured like never before.
If you want to get rich in a bad economy, become an oral surgeon specializing in dental implants, you’ll be rich within months like my dentist, he’s only 29 yrs old and already owns a 2.4 million home, 3 Mercedes Benz and flies to his 2nd home in Bermuda 4 times per year…

all these people are white and can’t afford the dentist?? what ever happened to the “superior” race everyone keeps talking about? not being able to afford something as simple as this shows you clearly have problems.

Your mom may not be giving the correct information. Here is what I would do. Call the customer service number for your mothers insurance and see if they would cover your work if done in New York. As to the VA insurance, your fiance could call them and find out if they have spousal coverage for orthodontics. These are the only ways you will know for sure. And just to be on the safe side, if they say they will provide coverage, make sure you get something in writing. Good luck to you Confused.

Given your situation, what i would recommend is a dental discount plan. It is different than dental insurance. I recommend that because although a dental insurance may "cover" a pre-existing condition, they can have some long waiting periods before you can get some work done… it operates as an unofficial "we don't cover pre-existing conditions" clause. Discount Plans for dental on the other hand start immediately for any procedure, they are about 7 bucks a month, and they do cover pre-existing conditions.

Now you will also want to check these out with whatever dental discount plan you look at. 1. what is the start up/processing fee. Most are fairly cheap but some are $20 dollars and others are $40. 2. is there a difference in savings between general dentists and specialists (such as a periodontist). Most of the time there is, but ask what the difference is. 3. can you pay the membership monthly or does it have to be for a whole year at once. I know the discount plan at http://www.1Dental.com has a monthly offer, whereas most other dont and want you to pay for a whole year at once.

Another thing you can do as well is check out nearby universities and dental schools to see if they have availabilities and would be able to help you.

Anyway, i know that is a lot, but explore your options. You can check the university, but if that doesnt work, i would purchase a dental discount plan because you would be able to use it right away.

    Hope that helps!

If your self employed dental insurance is not worth it. It is good to get if you work for some one who is paying for but not if you have to pay for it yourself. First dont confuse a plan with insurance different things. aplan sounds really good when compared to ins so many people purchase them, but the trouble come when yuou decide to use it. Many times people are unaware that the reason plans dont offer any restrictions limitation , no deductalbes, is because they are not a third party payer, and the patient pays for it all, so they dont carte if you get one exam or a hundered your the one paying, basically a plan is like paying for a coupon book every month.

Insurance is not all that great if you have to pay for it. the reason is the amount they offer per year you can easily save with out having to pay the insurance who will place restrictions like wait periods, deductable, percatange resposible for you, pre existing conditions, etc etc etc…. Medical is a different stor, that you need to have, but dental insurance for most is capped at $1000 to $2000 per year so why pay some one for insurance if you can save that yorself and not have to deal with all the restrictions and limitations, not to mention when you figure out you payments and what they pay, you co pay and deductables you will probably have paide a lot more than the original price with out it.

here is an example If you go to a dentist and need a denture they will charge you $1000.

with an insurance if you qualify then you have to wait a year. Lets say you have delta dental then you pay $100 a month. so after a year you would have paid $1200 you already at a lose here. but there is more the insurace only cover 50%. so you have to pay 50%so they pay 600 and you pay the other 600.

now your down 1800, but wait dont forget the deductable, another 50
so the grand total 1850 for one denture.

My suggestion is to save your money.
